Mountain of Whiteness

Kenya is a popular tourist destination known for its vast wildlife reserves and stunning natural landscapes. It is located in East Africa and offers visitors the opportunity to go on safari and witness some of the world’s most incredible animals, such as lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras, in their natural habitats.

In addition to wildlife, Kenya also boasts beautiful beaches, vibrant cities, and cultural sites, such as traditional villages and archaeological sites. Visitors can also experience the local cuisine and traditional dances, as well as outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, and water sports.

Kenya is named after a mountain of the same name. The Kikuyu people, who lived around present day Mt Kenya, referred to it as “Kirinyaga” or “Kerenyaga”, meaning mountain of whiteness because of its snow-capped peak. Mt Kirinyaga, which was the main landmark, became synonymous with the territory the British later claimed as their colony. However, the name ‘Kenya” arose out of the inability of the British to pronounce Kirinyaga correctly.

Best Time to Visit:

June-October

The best time to visit Kenya largely depends on what you want to see and do during your trip. During this time, the weather is warm and dry, making it perfect for safari and other outdoor activities. The dry season is also the best time to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, which is one of the most spectacular natural events in the world. It’s worth noting that the rainy season can also make some roads and game reserves inaccessible due to flooding, so it’s important to plan your trip accordingly.
